Your Heart Energy

How often during the day do you check in with your ‘heart energy’? Are you attuned to that amazing organ in your chestheartresize that not only gives you life, but also reflects your experiences and feelings?  You know what I’m talking about — how when you’re joyously happy, you feel like your heart is singing or when you are feeling really sad and depressed it feels like a rock or when you’re terrified, it feels like it’s either stuck in your throat or trying to thump its way out of your chest!

Your heart is a real-time indicator of the joy in your life. Pay attention to those times when your heart is singing and do what you can to have more of that (whatever it is that’s making your heart sing) in your life!

TODAY’S TIP: Have a heart-felt Thursday and post some of the things that make your heart sing below!

Lifelong Learning

As a person who was born with a keen sense of curiosity, each day seems filled with possibilities for learning somethingLifeTeachers new. From how the brain works to a deeper understanding of how an engine works, to meeting a new person or reading a new book, to learning how to wire a fence to make it hot or trying a new crafting technique, I love to learn.

That’s why I’m thrilled that I have some fantastic teachers eating breakfast in the field just outside my window.  Although they can’t teach me about how an engine works, how to bake a better cake or how to repair the plumbing, my horses are consummate professionals as they teach me about leadership, building relationships and self development. I feel incredibly fortunate and blessed that these teachers lead me along paths of self-discovery and enlightenment every single day. They have helped me become a more patient and caring person with others as well as myself. And, they challenge me each day to not only step up and be the leader of my own life, but to continue to move beyond what I know, to keep trying new things and to learn and grow while being fully present and enjoying each moment.

Refresh, Renew

Music to my ears for a brief twenty minutes or so yesterday — raindrops on the barn roof!  I was really hoping it would continue for a few hours since we need it so badly. rainThe weather forecast includes rain here today. I’m praying for that refreshing, renewing moisture to drop from the sky and wash the dust from the plants and trees, cool things off a bit, and give my garden that wonderful wet boost it’s been waiting for.

TODAY’S TIP: Take some time today to refresh and renew your spirit, your relationships, your thoughts and your life! Have a refreshing Sunday!

Is it possible for you to turn off your thoughts completely while you are awake?  Do you have the ability to quiet that small voice that chatters incessantly inside your head every waking moment of the day? Do you pay attention to what that voice is saying?

Rarely is my voice neutral. It seems to focus on the tiniest of things to judge, criticize and condemn. It used to be that my voice had a really difficult time finding anything positive or encouraging to share. That’s why I love affirmations.

Instead of those nasty, condemning, critical thoughts, I’m retraining that little voice in my head to offer affirmations. As a result, I hear far more “WAY TO GO!” “GREAT JOB!” “THAT WAS FABULOUS!” comments. It’s amazing how much happier, lighter and more positive I feel. And, I’m finding affirmations are definitely helping me stay focused on where I want to go and what I want to accomplish rather than staying stuck reviewing the past over and over and over.

TODAY’S TIP: Check in with the little voice in your head. Is it condemning and criticizing or is it encouraging and supportive?  Share  your favorite affirmation below.

People have varying opinions about networking. Some people love it and some people hate it. Mixing, mingling, peoplechatting, swapping ‘elevator pitches’, reciting a two minute intro, trading business cards, and sharing over a cup of coffee are all part and parcel of networking.

So what makes networking really work? How can the networking experience result in business growth for you?

Whether you are just starting out in business and getting your toes wet in the networking pond or you are an old pro who has great wisdom to share, I invite you to join me at Happy Hour with Jean for “Successful Networking” on Tuesday, July 23 at 4 p.m. Central.
