Is it possible for you to turn off your thoughts completely while you are awake? Do you have the ability to quiet that small voice that chatters incessantly inside your head every waking moment of the day? Do you pay attention to what that voice is saying?
Rarely is my voice neutral. It seems to focus on the tiniest of things to judge, criticize and condemn. It used to be that my voice had a really difficult time finding anything positive or encouraging to share. That’s why I love affirmations.
Instead of those nasty, condemning, critical thoughts, I’m retraining that little voice in my head to offer affirmations. As a result, I hear far more “WAY TO GO!” “GREAT JOB!” “THAT WAS FABULOUS!” comments. It’s amazing how much happier, lighter and more positive I feel. And, I’m finding affirmations are definitely helping me stay focused on where I want to go and what I want to accomplish rather than staying stuck reviewing the past over and over and over.
